"That was very interesting.  I'll try to remember to harvest some when next the pods start dropping.  Spring I think. The pods on my tree don't look like the ones in this film.  Mine are shorter and wider.  Wonder how I…"

Powell Gammill replied to Ariane's discussion Carob/Mesquite pods anyone?
"Actually they have to be completely ripe (black-brown) to eat them off the tree.  And many varieties are not especially good raw.  But some. . . well, I'd like to get my hands on one that makes your eyes roll up."

"Hi Powell,  I can only tell you the dogs love the pods but don't know if that is much of an endorsement.  I've nibbled a pod or two and find them unappealing but I may not be sampling at prime pick-ability.  A friend who…"

MaryMcP replied to Ariane's discussion Carob/Mesquite pods anyone?
"My carob tree dropped all its pods weeks ago.  Maybe it's on some different circadian rhythm but the tree is now producing those smelly flower-like things.  Good luck.  Mesquite the same.  No pods at this time."

Hi Ariane,

You are welcome....I didn't have a recipe, just put the beans in a crock-pot, added whole cloves of garlic, shallot, cumin, curry, and salt.  The whole cloves get roasted in the mixture and add a mellow garlic flavor.

Hi Ariane-

Thank you for your message. We have our group meeting on that morning - what time is it scheduled? Unfortunately my group meetings have all been at the same time as some of the great clinics. Are there other clinics planned?
