"Nice setup.  Keep in mind once the dewpoint exceeds 54 degrees F there is no evaporative cooling.  Some breeds do better than most."

Saved another chicken from heatstroke

Even though we have an evap cooler in their "barn" and misters and cool water from the cooler in their well shaded run, every year we find one down with heat stroke.  Last week, one of our red hens was in the run, down with legs stretched out, seemingly paralyzed, and talons clenched.  We cooled her down in a large bucket of cool water, dried her off somewhat and put her in a dog kennel inside the house.  We gave her Pedialyte with an eye dropper, which she readily drank.  We cut up watermelon…See More

Looking for adult hens

We are down to just too hens and I would like at least 6. I don't want chicks at this time. Does anyone have any for sale or adoption?
