"What part of town are you in? I haven't finished my plucker but might be able to help you out. I had the same problem with my girls and tried every trick I found and finally cured it by simply putting curtains on the nest boxes."

"I have never harvested chickens either. I was wondering how old your chickens are? It maybe they are taking a well deserved egg laying break. Chickens will slack off a bit in the heat of the summer and resume again in the fall when it cools off, not…"

Solar!!

We started our solar project about six months ago.  Waiting....waiting.  Finally, the installation happened and needed the mandatory inspections.  Waiting...waiting.  Just got the call, "will anyone be home Thursday at 9 so we can turn on your solar system?"  Anybody home?!  Really?!  I'm sooooo excited.  Finally we will be generating power rather than just admiring the system and we expect to have 69% of our power needs taken care of by the sun.

Solar - check.  Now, on to chickens…

Am I way too excited?

I found Valley Permaculture Alliance last night and had a huge "this is what I've been looking for" moment!  I signed up and waited to be accepted.  Today, ta da, my acceptance was in my email and I can't wait to get started.  Is that weird or am I among other equally enthusiastic wanna be sustainable nuts?

I've been hoping to move to a more favorable climate but I don't think that is happening any time soon so I'm going to make the best of living just north of hell (at least in the…

Love the idea, haven't done a tour there yet though.  What part of the valley are you in?  I am madly prepping for the tour next Saturday, but you are welcome to come by for a look see.  On the AP systems, mainly to see what not to do!  Have 3 systems that are NOT working, but they will be soon, really they will be...I'm sure....

Kim,

Welcome!  Yep, I understand that excitement!  Sometimes when I am babbling on about my Aquaponics system and explaining that, really, the keystone element is the bacteria, so I must be a bacteria farmer, and people look at me funny, I really, really appreciate this group!  Hope you find what you need here!
