It's hot!!!! And it is especially hard on plants.

Maricopa Co. finally projected to hit 100F today. For those doing it now is the time when shade cloth should be up, trunks painted white and the area around trees, especially first year in ground trees, is well watered. The trees use water uptake, circulation and transpiration to cool themselves. That means they need the water present as moist soil AND they use the water present up faster combined with faster ground evaporation. Plants will die fast without this moisture. The days will usually be ultra-low humidity for the next seven to eight weeks. When temperatures exceed 110F it is very hard on plants. The upper three inches of bare soil is the same temperature as the air temperature. Roots die back from this kind of bare area in the summer. A mature tree's canopy shades the ground and trunk underneath. A thick organic mulch (or ground cover) helps a lot to keep the ground and roots cool and the soil moist.See More

No worries~

Do you think I can stop by tomorrow around noon? I can come by during my lunch break and my husband and come along and help me load.

If you are ok with that, I can give you a ring before we head your way.

Thanks again!
